 A New Year Means New Mighty Beanz!

While the new series 3 of Mighty Beanz first appeared in Australia in December of 2010, they have just begun to show up at retailers in the United States in February 2011.  Series 3 of Mighty Beanz introduces a new concept never before seen in the Mighty Beanz franchise... SQUARE BEANZ! Randomly inserted into both 6-packs AND 3-packs are new square shaped Mighty Beanz which are said to be extra rare. They still have rounded corners so they should still be able to roll about on flip tracks and such.

Not including the square beanz, for which there are at least 10 different of which have been confirmed thus far, there are another 100 beanz to collect in Series 3 (just like Series 1 and 2) and the numbering of the beanz continues on from where series 2 left off. The 'core' 100 beanz in series 3 range from #236 on up to #335. The square beanz, however, are fairly higher with numbers from #367 up to #376. Thus, there must be a lot of different special edition beanz, which come in flip tracks, collector cases, and so on, to fill up the numbering from #336 through #366!

While, not including square beanz, there are once again 100 new beanz in the 'core' set, square beanz aren't the only new facet being introduced in series 3. Series 3 of Mighty Beanz actually introduces an additional rarity in the mix with UNCOMMON Mighty Beanz. Series 1 and 2 (as well as Star Wars and Marvel Beanz for that matter) had Commons, Rares, and Ultra Rares. Series 3 however has Commons, Uncommons, Rares, Ultra Rares, plus the Square Beanz!

They are staying consistent in other ways though by once again having 20 different beanz teams with 5 beanz per team. With the introduction of Uncommon beanz, each 5 bean team now consists of 2 commons, 1 uncommon, 1 rare, and 1 ultra rare which is once again a 'mega' bean, which is shorter and wider than other beanz. Series 1 and 2 had 3 commons, 1 rare, and 1 ultra rare per team.

As with series 1 and 2, the only way to get the ultra rare mega beanz in series 3 is by purchasing the 6-bean packs. On occasion, the ultra rare mega bean will be replaced with a square bean though. Something that came as a pleasant surprise to me though is that in the 3-packs which never had ultra rare mega beanz, and still don't, DO have the chance of possessing a new square bean! We tracked down 10 of the 3-packs ourselves. In the video below, you can see us open up the first 5 of those packs and see for yourself that square beanz can be obtained in the 3-packs!

Series 3 Mighty Beanz Product Types

Within the United States, the known ways that series 3 beanz are available, at least so far, are 3-packs, 6-packs, and collector cases. The collector cases hold 50 beanz and each come with 2 special edition beanz that you can ONLY get in the collector cases!

Have not personally seen them yet but there's a good chance there will be flip tracks again as well which, in the past, have each come with 1 special edition bean that can only be obtained in the flip tracks.

Meanwhile, over in Australia, some new product types have been spotted that I can only hope will make their way over here. Namely, they have introduced a small collectors tin in the shape of a bean (basically a regular bean but in super jumbo size) which holds 14 beanz. In Australia there are 3 different styles for this tin currently. Fingers crossed that they show up in the United States soon! Secondly, the traditional 'flip tracks' that we got with series 1 and 2 have been 'revamped.' Now they are in the shape of a snake and can actually be combined together to make an even longer track! Lastly, in Australia, they have Mighty Beanz that come in plastic eggs. Each egg includes 2 Series 3 Mighty Beanz, a series 3 collector guide, AND you have the chance of finding a new rare 'Golden Egg Head' Bean which I'm guessing can only be found in the easter eggs.

There are a lots of new things rolling out with Series 3. Hopefully most, if not all of the new products make their way over to the Unites States as well!
